We went for a day trip to Salem, famous for the witch trials and cashing in on that fame quite remarkably! There is a lot of interesting urban street art on display in a more run-down part of the town.
In February 2020, during school vacation week we drove up to Lincoln, NH for a visit to the “Ice Castles”. These structures are formed every Winter with different shapes each year. They contain slides, tunnels, staircases, sculptures, fountains, overlooks and even a cafe with ice tables and chairs. https://icecastles.com/new-hampshire
I grew up in Lincoln, a Roman city (Lindum Colonia) with a Norman Castle. Construction of Lincoln Cathedral began in 1072.
For anyone (like me) craving flowers right now…
In the Summer of 2019 my Mother-in-law came over to stay for three weeks and we drove up to Canada via Vermont for half a week in Montreal and half a week in Quebec.
New York City is around 4 hours drive away from our house, but we don’t go there as often as I would like!

During this visit to New York we were lucky enough to go and see the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which in terms of stagecraft alone, was a truly amazing production, despite whatever I might think about J. K. Rowling now.
2020 marked the 400 year anniversary of the Mayflower arriving in New England, and they spent years planning a whole host of activities and festivals which all had to be cancelled…we decided to visit and see how many clamshells we could find on their scavenger hunt. It was a dreary day but we were stir crazy and needed to get out of the house!
